evaṃ mayā śrutam ekasmin samaye bhagavāñ śrāvastyāṃ viharati sma jetavane ’nāthapiṇḍadasyārāme | tatra bhagavān bhikṣūn āmantrayati |

pūrvaṃ me bhikṣavo ’nuttarāṃ samyaksaṃbodhim anabhisaṃbuddhasyaikākino rahasigatasya pratisaṃlīnasyaivaṃ cetasi cetaḥparivitarka udapādi |

kcchraṃ batāyaṃ loka āpanno yaduta jāyate ’pi jīryate ’pi mriyate ’pi cyavate ’pyupapadyate ’pi | atha ca punar ime sattvājarāmaraṇasyottare niḥsaraṇaṃ yathābhūtaṃ na prajānanti |

tasya mamaitad abhavat | kasmin nusati jarāmaraṇam bhavati | kiṃpratyayañ ca punarjarāmaraṇam | tasya mama yoniśo manasikurvataevaṃ yathābhūtasyābhisamaya udapādi | jātyāṃsatyāṃ­jarā­maraṇaṃ bhavati | jātipratyayañ ca punar jarāmaraṇam |

tasya mamaitad abhavat | kasminnu sati jātir bhavati | kiṃpratyayā ca punar jātiḥ | tasya mama yoniśo manasi kurvataevaṃ yathā­bhūtas­yābhisamaya udapādi | bhave sati jātir bhavatibhavapratyayā ca punar jatiḥ |

tasya mamaitad abhavat kasmin nusati bhavo bhavati | kiṃpratyayaś ca punar bhavaḥ tasya mama yoniśo manasi kurvataevaṃ yathābhūtasyābhisamaya udapādi | upādāne sati bhavo bhavati | upādānapratyayaś ca punar bhavaḥ

tasya mamaitad abhavat | kasminnu saty upādānaṃ bhavati | kiṃpratyayaṇ ca punar upādānam | tasya mama yoniśo manasi kurvataevaṃ yathābhūtasyābhisamaya udapādi | tṣṇāyāṃ satm u­pād­ānaṃ­bhavati | tṣṇāpratyayañ ca punar upādānam |

tasya mamaitad abhavat | kasminnu sati tṣṇā bhavati | kiṃpratyayā ca punas tṣṇā | tasya mama yoniśo manasi kurvataevaṃ yathā­bhūtas­yābhisamaya udapādi | vedanāyām satyāṃ tṣṇā bhavati | vedanāpratyayā ca punas tṣṇā |

tasyamamaitad abhavat | kasminnu sati vedanā bhavati | kiṃpratyayā ca punar vedanā | tasya mama yoniśo manasi kurvataevaṃ yathābhūtasyābhisamaya udapādi | sparśe sati vedanā bhavati | sparśapratyayā ca punar vedanā |

tasya mamaitad abhavat | kasminnu sati sparśo bhavati | kiṃ­pratyayaś capunaḥ sparśaḥ | tasya mama yoniśo manasi kurvataevaṃ yathābhūtasyābhisamaya udapādi ṣaḍāyatane sati sparśo bhavatiṣaḍā­yata­napratyayaś ca punaḥ sparśaḥ |

tasya mamaitad abhavat | kasmin nusati ṣaḍāyatanaṃ bhavati | kiṃpratyayañ ca punaḥ ṣaḍāyatanam | tasyamama yoniśo manasi kurvata evaṃ yathābhūtasyābhisamaya udapādi | nāmarūpapratyayañ ca punaḥ ṣaḍāyatanam |

tasya mamaitad abhavat | kasmin nusati nāmarūpaṃ bhavati kiṃpratyayañ ca punar nāmarūpam | tasya mama yoniśo manasi kurvata evaṃ­yathā­bhūtas­yābhisamaya udapādi | vijñāne sati nāmarūpaṃ bhavati | vijñānapratyayañ ca punar nāmarūpam |

tasya mamaitad abhavat | kasmin nusati vijñānaṃ bhavati kiṃpratyayaṃ ca punar vijñānam | tasya mama yoniśo manasi kurvataevaṃ yathābhūta­sābhisamaya udapādi | nāmarūpe sati vijñānaṃ bhavati | nāmarūpapratyayañ ca punar vijñānam |

tasya mama vijñānātpratyudāvartate mānasaṃ nātaḥ pareṇa vyativartate |

yad utavij­ñānapratya­yaṃ­nāmarūpaṃ | nāmarūpapratyayaḥ ṣaḍāyatanaḥ | ṣaḍāyatanapratyayaḥsparśaḥ | sparśapratyayaḥ vedanā | vedanāpratyayā tṣṇā | tṣṇāpratyayamupādānam | upādānapratyayo bhavaḥ | bhavapratyayā jātiḥ | jātipratyayā­jarā­maraṇa­śoka­pari­deva­duḥkha­daurmanasyopāyāsāḥ saṃbhavanti | evamasya kevalasyamahato duḥkhaskandhasya samudayo bhavati |

tasya mamaitad abhavat | kasmin nvasati jarāmaraṇaṃ na bhavati | kasya nirodhāj jarāmaraṇanirodhaḥ | tasya mama yoniśo manasi kurvata evaṃ­yathā­bhūtas­yābhisamaya udapādi | jātyām asatyāṃ jarāmaraṇaṃ nabhavati | jātinirodhāj jarāmaraṇanirodhaḥ |

tasya mamaitad abhavat | kasmin nvasati jātir na bhavati | kasya nirodhāj jātinirodhaḥ | tasya mama yoniśo manasi kurvata evaṃ­yathā­bhūtas­yābhisamaya udapādi | bhave ’sati jātir na bhavati | bhavanirodhāj jātinirodhaḥ |

tasya mamaitad abhavat | kasmin nvasati bhavo na bhavati | kasya nirodhād bhavanirodhaḥ | tasya mamayoniśo manasi kurvata evaṃ yathābhūtasyābhisamaya udapādi | upādāne’sati bhavo na bhavati | upādānanirodhād bhavanirodhaḥ |

tasya mamaitad abhavat | kasmin nvasaty upādānaṃ na bhavati | kasya nirodhād upādānanirodhaḥ | tasya mama yoniśo manasi kurvata evaṃ­yathā­bhūtas­yābhisamaya udapādi | tṣṇānirodhād upādānanirodhaḥ |

tasya mamaitad abhavat | kasmin nvasati tṣṇā na bhavati | kasya nirodhāt tṣṇānirodhaḥ | tasya mama yoniśo manasi kurvata evaṃ­yathā­bhūtas­yābhisamaya udapādi | vedanāyām asatyāṃ tṣṇā na bhavati | vedanānirodhāt tṣṇānirodhaḥ |

tasya mamaitad abhavat | kasmin nvasati vedanā na bhavati | kasya nirodhād vedanānirodhaḥ | tasya mamayoniśo manasi kurvata evaṃ yathābhūtasyābhisamaya udapādi | sparśe’sati vedanā na bhavati | sparśanirodhād vedanānirodhaḥ |

tasya mamaitad abhavat | kasmin nv asati sparśo na bhavati | kasya nirodhāt sparśanirodhaḥ | tasya mama yoniśo manasi kurvata evaṃ yathābhūtasyābhisamaya udapādi | ṣaḍāyatane ’sati sparśo na bhavati | ṣaḍāyatananirodhāt sparśanirodhaḥ |

tasya mamaitad abhavat | kasmin nv asati ṣaḍāyatanaṃ na bhavati | kasya nirodhāt ṣaḍāyatananirodhaḥ | tasya mama yoniśo manasi kurvata evaṃ yathābhūtasyābhisamaya udapādi | nāmarūpe ’sati ṣaḍāyatanaṃ nabhavati | nāmarūpanirodhāt ṣaḍāyatananirodhaḥ |

tasya mamaitad abhavat | kasmin nv asati vijñānaṃ na bhavati | kasya nirodhād vijñānanirodhaḥ | tasya mama yoniśo manasi kurvata evaṃ yathābhūtasyābhisamaya udapādi | saṃskāreṣv asatsu vijñānaṃ na bhavati | saṃskāranirodhād vijñānanirodhaḥ |

tasya mamaitad abhavat | kasmin nv asati saṃskārā na bhavanti | kasya nirodhāt saṃskāranirodhaḥ | tasya mama yoniśo manasi kurvata evaṃ yathābhūtasyābhisamaya udapādi | avidyāyām asatyāṃ saṃskārā na bhavanti | avidyānirodhāt saṃskāranirodhaḥ |

ity avidyānirodhāt saṃskāranirodhaḥ | saṃskāranirodhād vijñānanirodhaḥ | vijñānanirodhān nāmarūpanirodhaḥ | nāmarūpanirodhāt ṣaḍāyatananirodhaḥ | ṣaḍāyatananirodhāt sparśanirodhaḥ | sparśanirodhād vedanānirodhaḥ | vedanānirodhāt tṣṇānirodhaḥ | tṣṇānirodhād upādānanirodhaḥ | upādānanirodhād bhavanirodhaḥ | bhavanirodhāj jātinirodhaḥ | jātinirodhāj jarāmaraṇanirodhaḥ | śoka­pari­deva­duḥkha­daurmanasyopāyāsā nirudhyante | evam asya kevalasya mahato duḥkhaskandhasya nirodho bhavati |

tasya mamaitad abhavat | adhigato me paurāṇo mārgaḥ paurāṇaṃ vartma paurāṇī puṭā pūrvakair ṛṣibhir yātānuyātā |

tadyathā puruṣo ’raṇye pravaṇe ’nvāhiṇḍann adhigacchet paurāṇaṃ mārgaṃ paurāṇaṃ vartma paurāṇīṃ pūṭāṃ pūrvakair manuṣyair yātānuyātām | sa tam anugacchet | sa tam anugacchan sa tatra paśyet paurāṇaṃ nagaraṃ paurāṇīṃ rājadhānīm ārāmasaṃpannāṃ vanasaṃpannāṃ puṣkariṇīsaṃpannāṃ śubhāṃ dāpavatī ramaṇīyām |

tasyaivaṃ syāt | yanv ahaṃ gatvā rājña ārocayeyam | atha sa puruṣo rājña evam ārocayet | yat khalu deva jānīyāḥ | ihāham adrākṣam araṇye pravaṇe ’nvāhiṇḍan paurāṇaṃ mārgaṃ paurāṇaṃ vartma paurāṇīṃ puṭāṃ pūrvakair manuṣyair yātānuyātām | so ’haṃ tam anugatavān | so ’haṃ tam anugacchann adrākṣaṃ paurāṇaṃ nagaraṃ paurāṇīṃ rājadhānīṃ vanasaṃpannāṃ puṣkariṇīsaṃpannāṃ śubhāṃ dāpavatīṃ ramaṇīyām | tāṃ devo nagarīṃ māpayatu |

atha sa rājā tāṃ nagarīṃ māpayet | sā syād apareṇa samayena rājadhānī ṛddhā ca sphītā ca kṣemā ca subhikṣā cākīrṇabahujanamanuṣyā ca |

evam eva adhigato me paurāṇo mārgaḥ paurāṇaṃ vartma paurāṇī puṭā pūrvakair ṛṣibhir yātānuyātā |

katamaś ca sa paurāṇo mārgaḥ paurāṇaṃ vartma paurāṇī puṭā pūrvakair ṛṣibhir yātānuyātā |

yad utāryāṣṭāṅgo mārgas tadyathā samyagdṛṣṭiḥ samyaksaṃkaIpaḥ samyagvāk samyakkarmāntaḥ samyagājīvaḥ samyagvyāyāmaḥ samyaksmṛtiḥ samyaksamādhiḥ |

asau bhiksavaḥ paurāṇo mārgaḥ paurāṇaṃ vartma paurāṇī puṭā pūrvakair ṛṣibhir yātānuyā |

tam aham anugatavān | tam anugacchañ jarāmaraṇaṃ adrākṣam | jarāmaraṇasamudayaṃ jarā­maraṇanirodhaṃ jarāmaraṇanirodhagāminīṃ pratipadam adrākṣam |

evaṃ jāti­bhavo­pād­ānatṛṣṇāvedanāsparśaṣaḍā­yata­nanāmarūpavij­ñānaṃ saṃskārān adrākṣam | saṃskārasamudayaṃ saṃskāranirodhaṃ saṃskāranirodhagāminīṃ pratipadam adrākṣam |

so ’ham imān dharmān svayam abhijñāya sākṣīkṛtvā bhikṣūṇām ārocayāmi | bhikṣūṇīnām upāsakānām upāsikānāṃ nānātīrthyaśramaṇabrāhmaṇacaraka­pariv­rāja­kānām ārocayāmi |

tatra bhikṣur api samyakpratipadyamāna ārādhiko bhavati | ārādhayati nyāyaṃ dharmaṃ kuśalam | bhikṣūṇy apy upāsako ’py upāsikāpi samyakpratipadyanā ārādhikā bhavati | ārādhayati nyāyaṃ dharmaṃ kuśalam |

evam idaṃ brahmacaryaṃ vaistārikaṃ bhavati bahujanyaṃ pṛthubhūtaṃ yāvad devamanuṣyebhyaḥ samyaksuprakāśitam ||
