111. The Jātaka of Arindama

bhikṣū bhagavantam āhansuḥ || kisya bhagavaṃ kathaṃ imena rājñā śreṇiyena bimbisāreṇa imasya purohitasya sakāśāto bhagavato śravaṇagatena vipulo ācchāyo dinno || bhagavān āha || na bhikṣavo etarahim eva etena rājñā śreṇyena biṃbisāreṇa purohitasya sakāśāto mama śravaṇagatena vipulo ācchāyo dinno anyadāpi dinno || bhikṣū āhansuḥ || anyadāpi bhagavan* || bhagavān āha || anyadāpi bhikṣavo ||

bhūtapūrva bhikṣavaḥ atītam adhvānaṃ nagare mithilāyāṃ videhajanapade mahārājadhānyāṃ rājā arindamo rājyaṃ kāresi dhārmiko dharmarājā susaṃgṛhītaparijano dānasaṃvibhāgaśīlo mahābalo mahāvāhano | tasya ṣaṣṭiṃ nāgasahasrāṇi sarvālaṃkāravibhūṣitāni ṣaṣṭiṃ aśvasahasrāṇi sarvālaṃkāravibhūṣitāni ṣaṣṭiṃ rathasahasrāṇi dvīpicarmaparivārāṇi siṃhacarmaparivārāṇi savaijayantikāni sanandighoṣāṇi mahāpravārāṇi ucchritadhvajapatākāni ṣaṣṭiṃ dhenusahasrāṇi vatsadohinī | tasya ṣaṣṭiṃ kanyāsahasrāṇi ṣaṣṭiṃ paryaṃkasahasrāṇi sauvarṇamayāni rūpyamayāni dantamayāni || arindamasya khalu punar bhikṣavo rājño ṣaṣṭiṃ suvarṇapārisahasrāṇi ṣaṣṭiṃ rūpyapārisahasrāṇi abhūnsuḥ || ariṃdamasya khalu punar bhikṣavo rājño pitṛpitāmahāni ṣaṣṭiṃ nidhisahasrāṇi ṣaṣṭiṃ nagarasahasrāṇi ṛddhisphītāni akaṇṭakāni || ariṃdamasya rājño śroṇo nāma purohitaputro abhūṣi trayāṇāṃ vedānāṃ pārago akṣaraprabhedānāṃ itihāsapaṃcamānāṃ sanighaṇṭukaiṭabhānāṃ anupadakavyākaraṇakuśalo brāhmaṇavedeṣu daśa kuśalāṃ karmapathāṃ samādāyavartī kāmeṣu ādīnavaṃ dṛṣṭvā anuhimavantaṃ gatvā ṛṣipravrajyāṃ pravrajito || tena dāni bāhirakeṇa mārgeṇa yujyantena ghaṭantena vyāyamantena catvāri dhyānāny utpāditāni paṃcābhijñā ca sākṣīkṛtā maharddhiko mahānubhāvo ṛṣī saṃvṛtto ||

atha khalu bhikṣavo śroṇasya ṛṣisya dīrghasyādhvano tyayena etad abhūṣi || rājā arindamo mama dārakavayasyo sahapāṃśukrīḍito tasya cādya caturāśīti varṣasahasrāṇi mahārājyaṃ kārayantasya samayo khalu rājño arindamasya pravrajyāye yaṃ nūnam asyāhaṃ saṃcodayeyaṃ || atha khalu bhikṣavo śroṇako ṛṣis tadyathāpi nāma balavāṃ puruṣo saṃmiñjitāṃ vā bāhāṃ prasāraye prasāritāṃ vā bāhāṃ saṃmiṃjaye ettakena kṣaṇavītihāreṇānuhimavaṃ­tāto āśramāto vaihāyasam abhyudgamya mahādevāmravane pratyasthāsi || adrākṣīd bhikṣavo arindamasya brāhmaṇapurohito rājācāryaḥ śroṇakaṃ ṛṣiṃ mahādevāmravane anyatamasmiṃ āmramūle niṣaṇṇaṃ dṛṣṭvā ca punar yena śroṇako ṛṣī tenopasaṃkramitvā śroṇakam ṛṣiṃ sādhu ca suṣṭhu ca pratisaṃmoditvā śroṇakaṃ ṛṣiṃ abhivādetvā yena mithilā tena prakrame rājño arindamasya vedanāya || tadaho eva ca bhikṣavaḥ rājño arindamasya kāmeṣu vyākutsanā utpadye yoniśo manasikāro śroṇakasya ṛṣisya darśanakāmatā udapāsi || atha khalu bhikṣavo rājā arindamas tāye velāye imāṃ gāthām adhyabhāṣet* ||

tasya grāmavaraṃ demi nāriyo ca alaṃkṛtā |
yo me śroṇakam ākhyāsi sahāyaṃ pānsukrīḍakaṃ ||

tasya ca brāhmaṇo āsi kulīno adhyāpako |
suduḥkhidurmanaṃ dṛṣṭvā idaṃ vacanam abravīt* ||

mahyaṃ grāmavaraṃ dehi nārīyo ca svalaṃkṛtā |
ahaṃ śroṇakam ākhyāsyaṃ sahāyaṃ pānsukrīḍakaṃ ||

tuhyaṃ hi tāva vijite tuhyaṃ udyānabhūmiye |
puṣpitā phalitā āmrā tatra so āsate ṛṣī ||

tato sa rājā tvaramāno amātyam adhyabhāṣati ||

kṣipram asmākaṃ yojaya kṛtsnā nāgāṃ alaṃkṛtā |
bherīpaṭahā vādyantu eko śaṃkho ca madhyamaḥ ||

vayasyaṃ draṣṭum icchāmi śroṇakaṃ paryupāsituṃ |
nānāvṛkṣaphalopetaṃ prayāsi + + + vanaṃ ||

rājā + + + + + + + + + + + + |
+ + + + + + śroṇako yatra dhyāyate ||

taṃ ca so ṛṣiṃ addarśi sahāyaṃ pānsukrīḍakaṃ |
dṛṣṭvā ca śroṇakaṃ tasmiṃ idaṃ vacanam abravīt* ||

kṛpaṇo va kathaṃ bhikṣo muṇḍasaṃghāṭiko dhano |
samātāpitṛko dhyāyaṃ vṛkṣamūle pi tiṣṭhasi ||

atha khalu bhikṣavo śroṇako ṛṣi rājānam arindamaṃ gāthāye pratyabhāṣe ||

na rāja kṛpaṇo bhavati dharmakāyasya śriyāpi ca |
yo ca dharmaṃ samupakramya taddharme na rato naro |
sa rāja kṛpaṇo bhavati jyotiṣṭomaparāyaṇo ||

atha khalu bhikṣavo rājā arindamo śroṇakaṃ ṛṣiṃ gāthāye pratyabhāṣe ||

kathaṃ bhavāṃ sukhaṃ śayati vanaprāntasmiṃ śroṇaka |
kathaṃ araṇye viharanto ekākī ramase kathaṃ ||

kathaṃ bhagavaṃ kāyasya paritāpo na vidyate |
rakṣāṃ va te saṃvidhemi atha nagaraṃ nayāmi te ||

atha khalu bhikṣavaḥ śroṇako ṛṣi rājānam arindamaṃ gāthāye pratyabhāṣe ||

ekasya carato rāja kiṃ me rāṣṭraṃ kariṣyati |
prathamaṃ khu bhadram adhanasya anāgārasya bhikṣuṇo ||

yo haṃ grāmāto prakramāmi rāṣṭrāṇi nigamā tathā |
anapekṣo va prakramāmi na kocid uparudhyati |
dvitīyaṃ khu bhadram adhanasya anāgārasya bhikṣuṇo ||

panthena gacchamānasya ye bhonti paripanthakā |
pātracīvaram ādāya sukhaṃ gacchati sarvato |
tṛtīyaṃ khu bhadram adhanasya anāgārasya bhikṣuṇo ||

mithilāyāṃ dahyamānāyāṃ nāsya dahyati kiṃcana |
caturthaṃ khu bhadram adhanasya anāgārasya bhikṣuṇo ||

nate koṣṭhasmiṃ osaranti na kuṃbhena kulopakaṃ |
paritiṣṭhati eṣāṇo tena yāyanti suvratā |
paṃcamaṃ bhadram adhanasya anāgārasya bhikṣuṇo ||

nānākule pravrajitā nānājanapadāśritā |
anyamanyaṃ priyāyanti paśya dharmasya dharmatāṃ ||

atha khalu bhikṣavaḥ rājā arindamo śroṇakaṃ ṛṣiṃ gāthāye pratyabhāṣe ||

nityaṃ khalu teṣāṃ bhadraṃ yeṣāṃ kīrtesi śroṇaka |
vayan tu gṛddhā kāmeṣu kiṃ kariṣyāmi śroṇaka ||

atha khalu bhikṣavaḥ śroṇako ṛṣī rājānaṃ arindamaṃ gāthāye pratyabhāṣe ||

upamān te mahārāja kariṣyan taṃ śṛṇohi me |
upamāye ihaikatyā arthaṃ jānanti paṇḍitā ||

bhūtapūrvaṃ mahārāja kuṃjaro ṣaṣṭihāyano |
patito giridurgeṣu gaṃgāvegena vuhyate ||

tatra kālo vicinteti alpaprajño acetaso |
yānaṃ imaṃ labdhaṃ bhadraṃ bhadro vyāyāma alpako ||

tasya rātriṃ divaṃ vāpi tatrāsi niyato mano |
khādanto nāgamānsāni pibanto bhāgīrathījalaṃ |
paśyanto varacitrāṇi upayāti vihaṃgamo |
sā taṃ bhāgīrathī gaṃgā pramattaṃ kuṇapāśritaṃ |
samudraṃ abhisāreti agatī yatra pakṣiṇāṃ ||

makarā (timi)timiṃgilā bālaṃ naṃ vadhitvāna khādati |
kāmāpekṣā evam eva rāja prapadyanti pudgalā ||

taṃ te rāja ahaṃ brūmi mā rāja dharme pramādaya |
atha ghorarūpaṃ narakaṃ prapatiṣye avākśiro ||

saṃjīvaṃ kālasūtraṃ ca saṃghātaṃ dvau ca rauravau |
athāparaṃ mahāvīciṃ tapanaṃ saṃpratāpanaṃ ||

ity ete aṣṭa mahānarakā ākhyātā duratikramā |
ākīrṇā raudrasatvehi pratyekaṃ ṣoḍaśotsadā ||

catukarṇā caturdvārā vibhaktā bhāgaśo mitā |
udgatā yojanaśataṃ samantā yojanaśataṃ ||

atha ye narakaprakṣiptā ayasā pratikubjitā |
teṣām ayomayā bhūmi prajvalitā tejasaṃyutā ||

kadaryatapanā ghorā arcimanto durāsadā |
romaharṣaṇarūpā ca bhīṣmapratibhayā duḥkhā ||

mahadbha­yaṃ­karā sarve arciśatasamākulā |
ekaikaṃ yojanaśataṃ ābhāye saṃprabhāsati ||

yatra satvā bahū raudrā mahākilviṣakārakā |
ciraṃ kālaṃ pratapyaṃti api varṣaśatāny api ||

ayomayehi daṇḍehi sthūlehi narakapālakā |
hananti pratyamitrāṇi ye bhonti katakilviṣā ||

tan te haṃ kīrtayiṣyāmi gāthāye anupūrvaśaḥ |
śrotraṃ mo dattvā saktṛtyaṃ śṛṇohi mama bhāṣato ||

saṃjīvasmiṃ ca niraye ūrdhapādāṃ adhośirāṃ |
pralaṃbayitvā takṣanti vāsīhi paraśūhi ca ||

tato nakhehi tīkṣṇehi āyasehi svayaṃbhuhi |
anyamanyaṃ pi pāṭenti kruddhā krodhavasānugā ||

asino cāyasā teṣāṃ tīkṣṇā hasteṣu jāyithā |
yehi cchindanti anyonyaṃ praduṣṭamānasā narāḥ ||

teṣāṃ saṃchinnagātrāṇāṃ śīto vāyuḥ pravāyati |
sarvāṅgajanito teṣāṃ pūrvakarmavipākaśaḥ ||

evaṃ teṣām abhijñāya śroṇako tasya rājino |
saṃjīvakan ti ākhyāsi āvāsaṃ pāpakarmaṇāṃ ||

saṃjīvataś ca nirmuktā kukkulam avagāhatha |
anyamanyaṃ samāgamya dīrghāyatanavistarā ||

sarve te khu pradhāvanti yojanāni anekaśaḥ |
dahyamānā kukkuleṣu duḥkhāṃ vedanti vedanāṃ ||

kukkulāto ca nirmuktā kuṇapaṃ avagāhitha |
dīrghaṃ mahantaṃ vistīrṇaṃ udviddhaṃ śatapauruṣaṃ ||

tam enaṃ kṛpayā tatra tīkṣṇaśaktimukhā kharā |
chaviṃ bhittvāna khādanti mānsaśoṇitabhojanā ||

kuṇapāto samuttīrṇā drumāṃ paśyanti śobhanāṃ |
haritapatrasaṃchannān te upenti sukhārthinaḥ ||

tam enaṃ kulalā gṛddhā kākolūkā ayomukhā |
ūrdhavṛkṣe va nāṃ dṛṣṭvā khādanti rudhiramrakṣitā ||

yadā ca khāditā bhonti asthīni avaśeṣitā |
atha teṣāṃ chavimānsaṃ rudhiraṃ copajāyate ||

te ca bhītvā utpattitvāna alenā lenasaṃjñino |
asipatravanaṃ ghoraṃ kṣaṇyamānā upāgami ||

tato kṣatā ca ārttā ca bahurudhiramrakṣitā |
asipatravanā muktā yānti vaitaraṇīṃ nadīṃ ||

te tāṃ ca avagāhanti tatra kṣārodakāṃ nadīṃ |
teṣāṃ ca aṅgamaṅgāni vardhitā pratividhyati ||

tato aṃkuśehi vijjhitvā āyasehi yamapauruṣā |
utkṣipitvā nadītīre bhuṃjāventi ayoguḍāṃ ||

tāmralohaṃ ca saṃtaptaṃ pāyāyanti vilīnakaṃ |
tan teṣāṃ antram ādāya adhobhāgena gacchati ||

evaṃ pāpīyakarmāntā nirayaṃ pratipadyatha |
akṛtvā kuśalaṃ karma kāmamārgānusāriṇaḥ ||

ye ca pāpāni karmāṇi parivarjenti mānuṣāḥ |
ekāntakuśalākārā na te gacchanti durgatiṃ ||

tasmā durūpam āgamya karma kalyāṇapāpakaṃ |
pāpāni parivarjetvā kalyāṇaṃ ācare śubhaṃ ||

atha vā punar bhāveya āryaṃ aṣṭāṃgikaṃ śubhaṃ |
sarvaduḥkhaprahāṇāya jñātvā dharmaṃ niropadhiṃ ||

evaṃrūpāṃ mahārāja satvā vedanti vedanāṃ |
narakeṣu pāpakarmāntā pramattā bālabuddhino ||

tan te rāja ahaṃ brūmi mā rāja dharme pramādaya |
mā ghorarūpaṃ narakaṃ prapatiṣye avākśaro ||

saṃ­vignamanaso rājā śroṇakasya subhāṣitaṃ |
śrutvā saṃvegam āpadye adbhutaromaharṣaṇaṃ ||

tato rājā tvaramāṇo amātyaṃ adhyabhāṣata |
kṣipraṃ kumāram ānetha dīrghāyuṃ rāṣṭravardhanaṃ ||

asti me daharaḥ putro dīrghāyu rāṣṭravardhanaḥ |
taṃ rājye sthāpayiṣyāmi so vo rājā bhaviṣyati ||

tato ca rājadūtā ca amātyā cānukaṃpakā |
kṣipraṃ kumāram ānenti dīrghāyuṃ rāṣṭravardhanaṃ ||

atha khalu bhikṣavo rājā arindamo dīrghāyuṃ kumāraṃ gāthāye dhyabhāṣe ||

āmantremi bhavan tava pravrajyā mama rocati |
ahaṃ kāko va durmedho mā kāmānāṃ vaśam anvagā ||

ṣaṣṭiṃ nagarasahasrāṇi sphītaṃ rājyam akaṇṭakaṃ |
tat putra pratipadyāhi rājyaṃ niryātayāmi te ||

adyaiva pravrajiṣyāmi ko jāne maraṇaṃ śuve |
na hi na saṃgaman tena mahāsainyena mṛtyunā |
māhaṃ kāko va durmedho kāmānāṃ vaśam anvagā ||

ṣaṣṭi nāgasahasrāṇi atra sarve svalaṃkṛtā |
dantino balasaṃpannā hemakalpitavāsaso ||

ārūḍhā prāsaśūlayaṣṭīto­mara­nigaḍāyudhā |
tāṃ putra pratipadyasva rājyaṃ niryātayāmi te ||

adyaiva pravrajiṣyāmi ko jāne maraṇaṃ śuve |
na hi na saṃgataṃ tena mahāsainyena mṛtyunā |
māhaṃ kāko va durmedho kāmānāṃ vaśam anvagāt* ||

ṣaṣṭim aśvasahasrāṇi saindhavā śīghravāhino |
sarvālaṃkārabhūṣitāni śūrārūḍhā ca sarvaśo ||

māhaṃ kāko vā surmedho kāmānāṃ vaśam anvagā ||

ṣaṣṭiṃ dhenusahasrāṇi sarve vatsopadohinī |
tāṃ putra pratipadyāhi rājyaṃ niryātayāmi te ||

adyaiva pravrajiṣyāmi ko jāne maraṇaṃ śuve |
māhaṃ kāko va durmedho kāmānāṃ vaśam anvagā ||

ṣaṣṭi kanyāsahasrāṇi āmuktamaṇikuṇḍalā |
tāṃ putra pratipadyāhi rājyaṃ niryātayāmi te ||

adyaiva pravrajiṣyāmi ko jāne maraṇaṃ śuve |
māhaṃ kāko va durmedho kāmānāṃ vaśam anvagā ||

ṣaṣṭiṃ paryaṃkasahasrāṇi sauvarṇarūpyamayāni ca |
tāṃ putra pratipadyāhi rājyaṃ niryātayāmi te ||

adyaiva pravrajiṣyāmi ko jāne maraṇaṃ śuve |
na hi na saṃgataṃ tena mahāsainyena mṛtyunā |
māhaṃ kāko va durmedho kāmānāṃ vasam anvagā ||

ṣaṣṭi pārisahasrāṇi sauvarṇarūpyamayāni ca |
tāṃ putra pratipadyāhi rājyaṃ niryātayāmi te ||

adyaiva pravrajiṣyāmi ko jāne maraṇaṃ śuve |
na hi na saṃgataṃ tena mahāsainyena mṛtyunā |
māhaṃ kāko va durmedho kāmānāṃ vaśam anvagā ||

ṣaṣṭi nidhānasahasrāṇi jātarūpamanalpakaṃ |
tāṃ putra pratipadyāhi rājyaṃ niryātayāmi te ||

adyaiva pravrajiṣyāmi ko jāne maraṇaṃ śuve |
na hi na saṃgataṃ tena mahāsainyena mṛtyunā |
māhaṃ kāko va durmedho kāmānāṃ vaśam anvagā ||

ṣaṣṭiṃ nidhisahasrāṇi saptaratnam analpakaṃ |
tāṃ putra pratipadyāhi rājyaṃ niryātayāmi te ||

adyaiva pravrajiṣyāmi ko jāne maraṇaṃ śuve |
na hi na saṃgataṃ tena mahāsainyena mṛtyunā |
māhaṃ kāko va durmedho kāmānāṃ vasam anvagā ||

atha khalu dīrghāyu kumāro rājānaṃ gāthāye pratyabhāṣe ||

pure śrutaṃ mayā etaṃ mātā kālagatā mama |
naivāhaṃ śakto bheṣyāmi devena vinā jīvituṃ ||

yathā āraṇyakaṃ nāgaṃ pṛṣṭhato nveti pāyako |
evaṃ te anvayiṣyāmi ādāya tava suṃbhakaṃ ||

atha khalu bhikṣavo rājā arindamo amātyapāriṣadyāṃ gāthāye adhyabhāṣe ||

yathā sāmudrikāṃ nāvāṃ vāṇijāna dhanārthināṃ |
makaro tatra pāṭeya vāṇijā vyasanaṃ gatā ||

mā vayaṃ antarāyaṃ karoma + + + + + + mama |

imaṃ kumāraṃ gṛhṇītvā dīrghāyuṃ rāṣṭravardhanaṃ |
kṣipram antaḥpuraṃ netha prāsādaṃ rativardhanaṃ |
tatra taṃ ca rameṣyanti devakanyopamā śubhā ||

tato kumāraṃ gṛhṇitvā mahāmātrā yaśasvinaḥ |
mahatā rājānubhāvena praviśensu mithilāṃ purīṃ ||

tato khu ekā utthāya rājakanyā alaṃkṛtā |
āmuktamālyābharaṇā rājānam etam abravīt* ||

taṃ no bravīhi gandharvo śakro vāsi puraṃdaraḥ |
rājāṇattīṃ te pṛcchāmi + + + + + + ||

kathaṃ tvam asmāñ jahāsi rājyaṃ sphītam akaṇṭakaṃ |
dīrghāyuṃ kumāraṃ tathā sāmātyaṃ sadhanadhānyakaṃ ||

atha rājā tāṃ rājakanyāṃ āha ||

devo na nāgo na gandharvo na śakro na purandaraḥ |
mānuṣo haṃ utrasto kāmeṣu śrutvā ṛṣer anuśāsanīṃ ||

māhaṃ kāko va durmedho kāmānāṃ vaśam anvagā |
adyaiva ca kuryād iṣtaṃ ko jāne maraṇaṃ śuve |
na hi na saṃgataṃ tena bahusainyena mṛtyunā ||

ity uktvā sa ca rājā tasyaiva śroṇakasya ṛṣer antikāt pravrajitaḥ ||

bhagavān āha || tat kiṃ manyadhvaṃ bhikṣavo anyo so tena kālena tena samayena śroṇako nāma ṛṣir abhūṣi na khalv etad evaṃ draṣṭavyaṃ | tat kasya hetoḥ | ahaṃ sa tena kālena tena samayena śroṇako nāma rṣi abhuṣi | nānyo rājā arindamo draṣṭavyo | ayaṃ so rājā śreṇiyo bimbisāro || tadāpi eṣo yo asya śroṇakaṃ kathesi tasya vipulo dāyo dinno | idānīṃ pi etena purohitaputrasya vipulo dāyo dinno mama buddhasya varṇaṃ kathesi iti ||

arindama­rāja­jātakaṃ samāptaṃ ||

idam avocad bhagavān āttamanā ca devāsuragaruḍakinna­ramahoragā sā ca sarvāvatī varṣat te ca bhikṣavo bhagavato bhāṣitam abhyanandan ||

iti āryamahāsāṃghikānāṃ lokottaravādināṃ pāṭhena iti śrīmahāvastu-avadānaṃ samāptaṃ ||

ye dharmā hetuprabhāvā hetun teṣāṃ tathāgato |
hy avadat teṣāṃ ca yo nirodho evaṃvādī mahāśramaṇaḥ ||

yaḥ śṛṇoti muner dharmaṃ śrutvā cābhiniveśati |
sarvapāpavinirmukto sa gacchati sukhāvatīṃ ||

śraddhayā śrotavyaṃ tasmāt sugatsyāyaṃ subhāṣitaḥ |
nānāvidarśanaiḥ tais taiḥ jinena bhāṣitaḥ purā ||

so yaṃ subhāṣitaṃ bhaktyā sugatasyānubhāvataḥ |
mayā saṃpūrṇalikhitaṃ kaivalyavartmadeśakaḥ ||

ato yaṃ mama puṇyaṃ syāt sarvakilviṣanāśanaṃ |
apāyadvāranāśārhaṃ bodhimārgopadeśakaṃ ||

tena puṇyānubhāvena sarvabhūtāni sarvaśaḥ |
sarvakleśavinirmuktā prayāntu hi sukhāvatīṃ ||

ye satvāḥ andhā kāṇā ca tathā kubjā vicitrakā |
anye pipāsitāḥ kṣuddhāḥ sarvaduḥkhanipīḍitāḥ ||

tena puṇyena te sarve sarvasukhasamanvitā |
vividhā bhogā saṃbhuktā labhantu mokṣam avyayaṃ ||

ṣaṭsu gatīṣu ye satvāḥ magnāḥ jātijarākulā |
te sarve mama puṇyena bhavantu bodhimārgagāḥ ||

ye satvāḥ bālajātīyāḥ saddharmeṇa vivarjitāḥ |
pāpeṣu satataṃ saktāḥ rāgadoṣeṇa mohitāḥ ||

te sarve mama puṇyena bhūyo jātismarās tadā |
dānaśīlādisaṃyuktā carantu bodhicārikāṃ ||

rājā bhavatu kṣemāvān* carantu mantriṇo naye |
vīrā bhavantu satataṃ saṃgrāme jitaśatravaḥ ||

kāle varṣantu meghāś ca śasyapūrṇā mahī sadā |
etan me praṇidhānena yat puṇyaṃ jāyate śubhaṃ ||

tena puṇyānubhāvena bhaveyaṃ bodhipāragaḥ |
saṃsārārṇavatīrṇāya dehināṃ kuśalāya ca ||

śubhamastu sarvadā ||

śrīman naipālike varṣe vindus tanagrahagate |
māse āṣāḍhe śuklapakṣe pūrṇimātithisaṃgame ||

uttarāṣāḍha­saṃ­yukte yoge indrasamāgame |
rave vāsarasaṃyoge tasmiṃ eva śubhe dine ||

śrīnandācāryeṇa svārthaṃ likhito yaṃ subhāṣitaḥ |
śrīmat mahāmune bhaktyā saṃpūrṇam agamac chubhaṃ ||
